Who was Moshe Feldenkrais?
Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc. – a physicist, engineer and accomplished athlete developed this unique approach for self-improvement after suffering a debilitating knee injury. Drawing on his background in anatomy, physics, biomechanics, psychology and human development, he taught himself to walk again without pain. He recognized the vital link between body and brain, the role it plays in change and improvement, and how, with focused awareness, we can overcome our habitual limitations and learn to move and think in more effective ways. Dr. Feldenkrais is the author of many books, among them: Awareness Through Movement, The Elusive Obvious,The Potent Self, Body and Mature Behavior and The Master Moves.
What is the Feldenkrais Method® - How does it work?
Rather than a treatment or therapy, the Feldenkrais® approach is educational in nature. Based on the way we all learn at the beginning of life, through movement exploration and curiosity, by discovery through trial & error, this is learning at its most basic - how to function in and with the world around us. As we move past this stage of intense learning, habitual patterns of tension and holding can accumulate, causing discomfort, dysfunction or pain. The Feldenkrais Method® provides the environment for relearning healthier options through guided movement lessons. As you expand your awareness of how you move, think and sense, you discover more possibilities for acting and interacting with the world. This profound learning is available to anyone, regardless of age or physical condition, enabling you to enjoy your life fully and freely.

There are two ways you can experience the Feldenkrais Method® :
Awareness Through Movement - group classes & Functional Integration - private sessions.
In both, you learn new possibilities for how you move and live through a gentle process of self-discovery.
"What you truly learn best will appear to you later as your own discovery.”     - Moshe Feldenkrais
